FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.: "IT'S SAD TO SEE HOW RICKY HATTON TURNED OUT"

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.:

"It's sad man. It's sad to see how Ricky Hatton turned out. I hear he is seeking help and let's hope it works out for him," stated world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who shared his thoughts on the news that his former student, Ricky Hatton, was caught on video snorting cocaine. After a knockout loss to his son, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and a tougher-than-expected decision over Juan Lazcano, Hatton, looking to make changes to his camp, sought out the services of the elder Mayweather to become his new trainer. Despite having limited time to work together, the pair went 1-1, scoring a knockout victory over Paulie Malignaggi before suffering a knockout loss to Manny Pacquiao.

Soon after the Pacquiao loss, the two split ways as Hatton would begin flirting with the thought of retirement. Although Mayweather Sr. has yet to actually see the video, which has been making noise throughout the boxing community, he's fully aware that it shows the former champion snorting line after line of cocaine in a hotel room. Although it's reported that Hatton has entered a rehabilitation center to seek out help for this serious addiction, Mayweather did not sound surprised at all about the revelation. "These guys have a lot of time on their hands when they walk away from the sport of boxing. Most of them also have a little money to spend and they find themselves into shit like this. Sadly, the money eventually runs out. No matter how much money Ricky made, it will run out and he will be forced to fight again. And with his current situation, when he returns, he won't be able to beat no damn body. It's just sad man," Mayweather reiterated, illustrating the sad reality that far too often, many of our boxing heroes have found their way down the wrong path in life, despite the successes they've had in the ring.
