"It will be a battle with two warriors displaying speed, strength and skill. No bark, just bite! In our hometown, where we both are undefeated, it's going to be a special night," stated former jr. middleweight champion Sergio Mora hours before he gets set to weigh-in for the biggest fight of his career, a showdown with future Hall of Famer "Sugar" Shane Mosley. He may be the underdog going into the bout, but you wouldn't know that talking to him. Mora exudes the type of confidence of a champion who's carrying a chip on his shoulder.
Some may joke about the fact that Mora jump-started his career on The Contender reality series, but the fact remains, the former champion was able to accomplish something that Mosley was never able to do -- he holds a victory over the late, great Vernon Forrest, who battered Mosley from pillar to post in the first encounter and soundly defeated him again in their rematch. And let's not forget, if we learned anything from Mosley's loss to Floyd Mayweather earlier this year, it's that Shane still has problems when a jab is put in his face, something that even Shaquille O'Neal exposed during an exhibition bout on Shaq Vs.
Make no mistake about it, despite the fact that this fight is not pay-per-view worthy, Sergio Mora is indeed live dog. If you like to bet, this is a great time to lay some money on the underdog, who promises, "no bark, just bite!"
