Victor Ortiz proved that he's still vicious, making short work of Vivian Harris by dropping him 3 times in the second round before sending him to the canvas for the fourth and final time in the third. Harris, who never got anything going, had the look of a shot fighter, unable to avoid the punches coming at him while struggling to let his own hands go. A double left cross from Ortiz was the start of Vivian's problems, sending him to the canvas midway through the second round. A follow-up right hook would send him to the canvas a second time and a flush left hook would drop him a third time. By the time Harris finally decided to fight, it was too little too late and another short right hook followed by an uppercut would put Harris down for good.
Ortiz looked like a much more mature fighter, picking his shots wisely while still maintaining effective aggression. He dominated the Compubox numbers, landing 28 out of 91 shots to just 9 out of 49 for Harris. "I've learned quite a bit. It's been a whole year; a year and some now, and I've progressed quite a bit. I've learned a lot and I have Maidana to thank for that. But I still want you buddy, wherever you're at," Ortiz commented during his post-fight interview, calling out the last man to defeat him, Marcos Maidana.
