Saul "Canelo" Alvarez looked impressive in stopping the unstoppable Carlos Baldomir, knocking him out cold in the 6th round with a devastating left hook. Alvarez showed excellent patience as he took his time controlling the action behind a stiff jab that was finding it's mark with ease. Throughout the fight, Alvarez consistently landed his left hook followed by a stinging right hand that appeared to frustrate Baldomir.
Midway through the bout, a game Baldomir threw more caution to the wind, trying to press the action in hopes of landing his right hand, but it was clear that the younger Alvarez was far too fast and much more active than the aging former welterweight champion. In the 6th round, as Baldomir carelessly lunged in with a left hand, Alvarez caught him with a well-placed left hook that sent him crashing face-first to the canvas. Official time of the stoppage was 2:58 of round 6.
