MOSLEY AND MORA BATTLE TO A DRAW IN LACKLUSTER AFFAIR

Although it was a typical Golden Boy Promotions event, filled with quick lopsided undercard bouts that forced the HBO commentating crew to stall for nearly 30 minutes, it's always nice to see a knockout and thank goodness fans got a chance to see plenty of those because the main event was a disappointment. Despite all his talk about "bringing it," Sergio Mora was interested more in keeping his distance and boxing from the outside while a faded and aging Shane Mosley was forced to fight in spurts, chasing down his opponent in hopes of landing one big knockout shot. After 12 rounds of sloppy action, neither fighter was declared the winner as the official scorecards read 115-113 (Mora), 116-112 (Mosley), and 114-114. Relive all the action, what little there was, in FightHype's round-by-round results.

PREFIGHT
The underdog, Sergio Mora, comes out first. He looks angry and yet confident, as if he has a chip on his shoulders and something to prove. Shane Mosley comes out next wearing the red, green and white colors of Mexico. He's all smiles as usual. Both fighters weighed in officially tonight at 164 pounds.

ROUND 1
Mora comes out pumping his jab. Mosley patiently stalks. Neither fighter finding their range yet. Mosley lands a solid left hook upstairs. Now a jab lands for Mosley. Another left hook lands for Mosley. Mora misses with a right hand. Quick right hand lands for Mora, but it's partially blocked. Not much action from either fighter in a round won by Mosley on the strength of one punch. Mora looks like he's a little in awe of the moment. Mosley looks like an aging fighter looking to land that one big punch.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE CARD

  • Even though he had the perfect opponent standing right in front of him, Saul Alvarez still looked impressive in knocking out Carlos Baldomir. Although his defense still appears to need some work, as Baldomir was landing some nice shots, there's no denying that Alvarez has the type of offensive tools that will continue to make him entertaining to watch.

  • Victor Ortiz looks like he's really grown a lot as a fighter and a man since his loss to Marcos Maidana. He exuded confidence before, during and after the fight, showing little signs of being afraid to bring the heat and mix it up. Once Amir Khan gets done boxing Maidana's ears off, perhaps Golden Boy Promotions will give Ortiz the rematch he's been waiting for.

  • Daniel Ponce De Leon exhibited some excellent patience and defense prior to landing a devastating short right hook on the inside that floored Antonio Escalante.
