Reports have been popping up from multiple sources making public statements that Manny Pacquiao is looking bad in preparation for his fight with Antonio Margarito next month. Freddie Roach has said it, even Bob Arum has flown down to the Philippines to "investigate", and reports keep coming in that Pacquiao just isn't looking quite as good as normal. To all the Pacfans who might be panicking...relax! This is just a ploy to get people talking since all the news has been coming from the Margarito camp.
With all things considered, why would a trainer, or a promoter for that matter, say that their fighter is looking bad at all? Nobody put out a press release when Shane Mosley was getting beaten up in sparring leading up to the Mayweather fight, nor did they come out with a report that Oscar De La Hoya was getting beaten up by Edwin Valero prior to the Pacquiao fight.
Pacquiao is a workhorse! I've had the honor of meeting him in person and he always looks to be at fighting weight, so unless he's content on blowing further multi-million dollar paydays away (which he isn't, since, after all, Pacquiao is a politician now) he is probably in better shape than Margarito. Come to think of it, Arum hasn't even visited the Margarito camp. Maybe that'd be a good way to pass judgement before making any statement at all.
