MISSED WEIGHTS, HEAVYWEIGHT HATE AND MAYWEATHER RHYMES AT KHAN VS. MAIDANA WEIGH-IN

Although not quite as rowdy as Ricky Hatton's mob of fans, the presence of Amir Khan's army of supporters, who traveled overseas to cheer their man on, was definitely visible. Both fighters made weight with ease, with the champion, Khan, tipping the scales right at the limit of 140 pounds and challenger Marcos Maidana coming in 1 pound under at 139. The same could not be said about a couple of the undercard fighters however.

For the second fight in a row, jr. welterweight Joan Guzman missed the mark, weighing in at 144 pounds, 2 pounds over the agreed upon contracted weight of 142 pounds. His opponent, Jason Davis, also came in over at 143 pounds. After a brief discussion between Golden Boy matchmaker Eric Gomez and representatives of both camps, the fighters agreed to move forward with the bout.

Also on hand was Golden Boy darling Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, as well as WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, who not surprisingly received a chorus of boos from the diehard fans in attendance. At one point, a fan could clearly be heard yelling, "You don't want Klitschko!" Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya would disagree, however, stating, "We're working on it!"

The most interesting person to show up at the weigh-in was none other than Floyd Mayweather Sr., who resides in Las Vegas. Whether or not he was on hand to scout a future opponent (Amir Khan) for his son remains to be seen, but he did take the time to throw a little jab at rival trainer Freddie Roach. Pointing to a poster of Amir Khan, Mayweather Sr. commented, "Isn't he trained by Freddie Roach? Watch him get his head knocked off." He also dropped his latest poem, but we'll save that for the video to follow shortly.
