MAYWEATHER SR. VIEWS MOSLEY AS PACQUIAO'S LITMUS TEST

In a recent interview, Floyd Mayweather Sr. revealed that, unlike some, he's actually looking forward to the May 7 showdown between pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao and three-division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley. "I can't wait to see the Mosley-Pacquiao fight," he commented when asked to share his thoughts about the match-up. "I really am excited for that fight. I want to see how it's going to play out." Although last week's announcement of the bout drew criticism from fans and members of the media, Mayweather Sr. views it as an opportunity to test his own theories on Pacquiao's success.

"If he beats Shane worse than my son did, then come on man; that's all I'm gonna say about that. I think a lot of people know something isn't right," Mayweather Sr. continued. "If Floyd was doing the shit that Pacquiao is doing, as far as stopping these bigger guys and walking through their punches, they would have been investigated him. They would have buried Floyd. But I said it once and I will say it again, if Pacquiao agreed to the testing tonight, we would fight him tomorrow."

Obviously Mayweather Sr. is referring to his strong belief that Pacquiao is using performance enhancing drugs, an accusation that he first made not long after the former lightweight champion made his move to the welterweight division. In fact, according to Mayweather Sr., Pacquiao's performances against naturally bigger and stronger fighters are a clear indication that his hypothesis is correct.

"Pacquiao is there to be hit. Shit, you can't miss him. But I'm telling you now, Shane is going to hit Pacquiao with a big shot and it won't even buckle him man. Watch what I'm telling you now. And Shane is big and strong; shit, he buckled Lil Floyd, but he won't even buckle this little motherfucker," he explained. "Come on, man. I've been around boxing for a long time and Pacquiao has been hurt by guys that don't punch nowhere near as hard as Shane and I bet Shane won't hurt him. He gonna walk through Shane's punches."

Whether or not Pacquiao can actually walk through Shane's punches remains to be seen, however, it's true that Mosley is arguably the hardest hitting puncher that the Filipino superstar has faced since moving up in weight. Sporting a knockout percentage of 72.2%, only Miguel Cotto has a higher percentage (75.7%), albeit against fewer opponents. It is that very reason why Mayweather Sr. is so interested in the match-up. "Pacquiao's so fucking hittable because the motherfucker don't move his head, but at this point, I don't know if Shane can hurt him. Cotto couldn't, Oscar couldn't, Clottey or Margarito. I think Shane can bust him up because everyone busts Pacquiao up, but we will see if he can actually hurt him and possibly put him out. I'm really anxious to see how that fight plays out because that fight is going to tell us a lot," he reiterated.
