"I'm just looking forward, hopefully, to doing it again. If not, I'll move on and do it with the next leading available opponent," stated former light heavyweight king Bernard Hopkins, who discussed his eagerness to get a second shot at WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. With the WBC Board of Governors voting in favor of the immediate rematch between the two, Hopkins is hoping to get another opportunity to make history once more.
"That's my first agenda, but, you know, I want to let people understand that I want to be the oldest champion in boxing ever, surpasing George Foreman, and maybe in any other sport," he explained while speaking to ESPN's Brian Kenny during the season premiere of Friday Night Fights. "So that is important to me. That's very important to me to do that at 46 years old."
Despite turning 46 years old on January 15, the future Hall of Famer has no plans of retiring any time soon as Hopkins made it clear that Pascal wasn't the only Canadian in his sights. "After I beat Pascal, I'd like to go ahead and get Bute and wipe out all the Canadian fighters," he added with a grin.
