"I want to do a coach-off against Freddie Roach. I will show people that I can do with one hand the same shit it takes Freddie to use both hands for. Freddie Roach is not on my level as a trainer, man, trust me...I tell you something else too, man, I'm not sure how good a trainer Emanuel Steward is either. I remember that girl told Jermain Taylor not to let Steward train him and to let me train him. She told him that's the only way his career would be saved is if he trained with me. He went the other way and you see where he's at now," commented world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who shared his thoughts on some of his peers the sport. Check it out!
PC: We left off with you saying the only thing Freddie Roach could beat you doing is washing your car...
FM: (Cutting in) I want to do a coach-off against Freddie Roach. I will show people that I can do with one hand the same shit it takes Freddie to use both hands for. Freddie Roach is not on my level as a trainer, man, trust me.
PC: What did you think of your former pupil, Chad Dawson, and his decision to leave Eddie Mustafa for Manny Steward?
FM: I'll be honest with you man, you are about to see Chad's career go to shit. All that was; him leaving Mustafa was just his way of trying to put the blame on Mustafa for the Pascal fight. That fight ain't have nothing to do with Mustafa's training though. Now he got his old manager suing him. That's the dude that got me to train Chad; that guy Mike. He came to me and asked me to train Chad and I told him I didn't like training southpaws because I don't, man. He kept asking me until I agreed. But his career going to shit, man. Chad would still be a world champion if he would have stayed with me. See, Mustafa was basically the blame, man. He [Dawson] had to blame that shitty performance on somebody.
PC: I know one of the things that really bothered you when you had him was him having his family in camp.
FM: Yeah, he wanted to do it his way and you know I don't play that shit. It's my way, no other way, or the highway. How the fuck you gonna train hard and then go sleep in the same bed with your wife? Come on, man. You sleeping in the same bed with your wife 7 days a week, you know one of those nights it's going to go down. And then he had his little baby there, who was still in diapers, man. I'm talking about a little baby, man. You can't be 100% committed in camp when you got all of that shit going on at your room, man. I'm sure he tried that same shit with Mustafa. I hope he's not fighting Pascal again.
PC: He has a rematch clause, but the WBC is forcing Pascal's hand to rematch Hopkins.
FM: Shit, he should rematch Bernard because Bernard won that fight. Chad looked like shit, and Pascal's not even a good fighter. I tell you something else too, man, I'm not sure how good a trainer Emanuel Steward is either. I remember that girl told Jermain Taylor not to let Steward train him and to let me train him. She told him that's the only way his career would be saved is if he trained with me. He went the other way and you see where he's at now, right?
PC: You've been working with BJ Penn lately. Do you see yourself training other MMA fighters or kickboxers?
FM: I'll train anybody that wants to learn how to do it right, man. I've worked with some kickboxers in the past, like Tyrone Spong, Sam Hoger, who fights in MMA, and now BJ Penn, so yeah man, I don't have a problem with that at all. As long as they coming to learn boxing because I don't know shit about that ground stuff.
PC: I won't keep you any longer. I will get you out with this; you have a ton of things in the works. Tell our readers what all you have going on?
FM: Well, you know I am working on the book, which is going to have a lot of stuff in it. I'm putting stuff in the book that I've never told anybody. Me and Jack Mosley going to do the tournament where he has his 3 fighters fight my 3 fighters and we have 3 alternates, in case something happens or a cut or something, so I will be doing that. Then, I'm looking at 2 reality shows. "Mayweather's House" is one of them and the other one is just in talks right now, but they made an offer and I've accepted. And then, next week, I gotta go and meet with the people who want to do "Mayweather's Clothing Line." So I'm working on a lot of stuff man. I will always do my thing in boxing, but I can't do it forever, so I'm opening other doors.
PC: Hey man, that all sounds like things I would be interested in seeing and definitely want to read the book. Best of luck to you with all of those endeavors. I'll let you enjoy your grandkids now. I won't keep you any longer. I appreciate your time Big Floyd.
FM: No problem. Take care of yourself Percy.
