"Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions is on. I'm getting this license together, man, and then I'm going to start being involved with the boxing part a little bit more," stated three-division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley, who's moving full speed ahead with the formation of his own promotional company, Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions. "There's a lot of young talent out there," he stated as he made it clear that he plans on signing a number of fighters and staging their own events in the very near future. In fact, according to Mosley, they've already reached an agreement with their first fighter.
"I'm co-promoting Ricardo Williams along with Dan Goossen. We're getting ready to do a fight on February 11th in Houston. It's pretty much official. I'm just getting all my paperwork together. I'm getting my promoter's license and stuff, like paying for the license and filing for it and stuff like that," Mosley explained. "So once I get all of that, then it's pretty much official. The first place I'm going to do it is going to be in Las Vegas and the next place is probably going to be in Texas because I'm probably going to be doing a lot of fights in Texas and we're trying to do fights in Vegas."
The first time you can expect to see a Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions banner on full display will be on May 7th when the future Hall of Famer steps into the ring to face pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao. It will be the first time that Mosley will ever be fighting for himself, but it's a moment he's looking forward to as he begins to work towards his future in boxing whenever his career is over. "It's on, baby," he added. "It's on!"
