"Officially, training will probably be like towards the end of February. Right after we finish the press tour, I'm going to go right into training camp," stated future Hall of Famer "Sugar" Shane Mosley, as he talked about his eagerness to begin training for his May 7 showdown with pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao. Although it's still over a month away before his training camp officially begins, Mosley made it clear that he's already taken the necessary steps to get his camp together, having already tabbed potential sparring partners to emulate the southpaw Pacquiao.
"I'm going to have Ricardo Williams come down. And I might be having another world champion southpaw helping me in camp. I'm going to have a few southpaws, so I'm going to be getting it together," Mosley explained to me. "I want to get some fast hands, some speed, and guys with the right size too. I'm going to get a big southpaw that I can punch on a little bit (laughing)."
When asked if he thought if there was truly anyone who could emulate the difficult style of Pacquiao in sparring, Mosley simply laughed and replied, "He's fast. He throws rapid punches, but you can counter those if you're fast enough. I'm not going to fall victim to Pacquiao. I'll be ready for him!"
