EVEN WITH A KO, JEFF MAYWEATHER DOESN'T THINK MANNY CAN OUTDO FLOYD'S PERFORMANCE

During a recent conference call, Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach made it clear that he wants Manny Pacquiao to be the first to stop Shane Mosley in order to prove once and for all that he truly is a better fighter than Floyd Mayweather. "It would be incredible for Manny to be the first one to stop him and just prove to the world how much better he is than that other guy that couldn't stop him," Roach stated, that "other guy" of course being Floyd Mayweather. According to Jeff Mayweather, however, no matter the outcome of the fight, there's now way Manny's performance will prove that he's a superior fighter than Floyd. "If he does, more power to him, but at the same time, what does it matter when every time you do something to somebody, Floyd already did it before you," Jeff explained in a recent inteview with FightHype's own Percy Crawford.

As we already know, when they faced each other nearly a year ago, Mayweather was momentarily rocked in the second round by a big right hand from Mosley before regaining his composure, taking total control of the bout, and ultimately going on to win a wide unanimous decision. Jeff is of the opinion that Floyd's dominant performance has already softened Mosley up for anything that Pacquiao may be able to do to him. "You knocked out Hatton, so what? Floyd beat him first. You knocked out De La Hoya; Floyd beat De La Hoya at his own weight class. So basically, all you are doing is following everyone that Floyd s fighting and Floyd has already done the damage to them to make the fight easier for you," he explained. "It's one of those situations where if he knocks him out, good for him, but it still doesn't have nothing to do with Floyd because it's not the same damn fighter. Floyd doesn't fight nothing like Shane Mosley."

Of course, it should be noted that Jeff, being Floyd's uncle, is a little biased, however, he does have a valid point in that a victory over Mosley doesn't necessarily mean that Pacquiao is a better fighter than Floyd, especially when you consider that former Contender star Sergio Mora just fought to a draw with Mosley in his last outing. The only true way to find out who is better is for both men to step into the squared circle and actually fight, a notion that Jeff agrees with. "At the end of the day, you still have to fight Floyd. If the fight between you and Floyd doesn't happen, it doesn't matter who you beat or how you beat them because you gotta beat Floyd," he added.

Still, although a knockout might not prove he's a better fighter, it would prove something that most boxing fans already know: Manny Pacquiao is the most entertaining fighter!
