Shark Fight Promotions, a Texas based mixed martial arts fight Promotion Company, recently announced that they will be hosting a free mixed martial arts event on July 18th in Amarillo Texas at Gamboa's Outdoor Event Center. The popular Texas fight promoter was recently forced to cancel their Shark Fight 5 - Outdoor Bash and Brawl event, due to unpredictable weather. The promoter felt that the best way to make it up to the fans would be to re-schedule the event and give away the tickets. The Shark Fight event on July 18th will be a free admission show. read more

According to reports, Irish amateur boxer Robert Gorman was responsible for the rib injury that forced Floyd Mayweather Jr. to postpone his July 18th bout with Juan Manuel Marquez. Apparently, Team Mayweather personally invited Gorman to training camp after seeing him spar with rising super featherweight contender Yuriorkis Gamboa at the Top Rank gym. Six-time world champion Oscar de la Hoya mourns the tragic loss of the legendary Nicaraguan boxer, Alexis Arguello. The three-division former world champion and boxing icon was found dead Wednesday morning in his hometown of Managua, Nicaragua. De La Hoya shared several fond memories with the pride of Nicaragua, known as the "Explosive Thin Man" for his slim figure and powerful punch and was shocked to hear the tragic news about the man many considered to be a gentleman both in and out of the ring. read more

Former three-division champion Alexis Arguello has been found dead at his home. Presidential spokeswoman Rosario Murillo confirmed the news earlier today. Specific details of his untimely passing are still unknown, but he was found at his home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Coroners are conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Just last year, Arguello was elected mayor of Managua. Amidst reports of financial mishandling of public money, the shooting is rumored to be a suicide. He was only 57 years old. read more
