
According to reports out of Germany, WBA, IBF, & WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko has been forced to postpone his September 6 title defense against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev after suffering an injury during training camp. K2 Promotions promoter Tom Loeffler confirmed the news after posting the following message on his official Twitter page: "Unfortunately, news is true that Wladimir @Klitschko injured himself in camp and Sept 6 fight vs Pulev needs to be postponed."
Though no official announcement on a new date has been made, German newspaper Bild is speculating that the fight will likely be pushed back to the some time in late October. Check out the official press release below:
World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko must postpone his IBF title bout with Kubrat Pulev. During his sparring he suffered a torn muscle fibre in his left biceps. The fight is likely to be held before the end of the year in Hamburg.
Wladimir Klitschko will have to miss four weeks of training. "I am very disappointed the fight will not go ahead", Wladimir Klitschko said. "So far I have been in top shape and had a great training camp. I am sorry for my fans as well as my opponent Kubrat Pulev, who has surely prepared just as intensely."
