DIANA PRAZAK: "I CAN'T WAIT TO GET INTO THE PIT...IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT FIGHT"

By Percy Crawford | April 03, 2015
DIANA PRAZAK:

"I have never gone into a fight looking for a stoppage. At 130 though, I am the champion and I have never been beat at that weight. Once again I am stepping outside of that weight. Layla and I will meet at 133. I have nothing but respect for Layla and what she has achieved in her career. Would I like to win this fight? Yes. Would I like to win by stoppage? Of course. All fighters want the stoppage win. I'm going to step into the pit on the 4th and do everything I can to be the best I can be...I am a fighter that likes to fight on the front foot. I can't wait to get into the Pit," stated BKB lightweight Diana Prazak, who talked about her upcoming clash this Saturday with Layla McCarter. Check it out!

PC: How was this camp to prepare for your BKB debut against Layla McCarter?

DP: It has been my first camp at home for a while now, so that in itself was different. It has been good though. I have had great support from the people around me.

PC: You have faced some tough girls in your short career, going distance with Holly Holm and stopping previously unbeaten Frida Wallberg. In your opinion, what does that say about you as a fighter?

DP: Honestly, I'm not sure what it says about me as a fighter. I made the decision early that I didn't want to be a "made" champion and that I only wanted to fight the best. I believe I have done that and that I am continuing to do that. My goal in this sport is to be the greatest that I can possibly be; to test myself against the very best is a surefire way to achieve this.

PC: Coming off of a knockout loss, would you say you're more motivated as ever right now headed into this fight?

DP: It was not a knockout loss. The referee stopped the fight in the 9th round. I fought a great champion in Delphine Persoon and now I am going to fight a great champion in Layla McCarter. My motivation is the same; to make my team, my family, my country proud. To be the greatest that I can be.

PC: Your last 2 wins are by knockout though. Do you feel you can be the first fighter in 54 attempts to stop McCarter?

DP: I have never gone into a fight looking for a stoppage. I'm going to step into the pit on the 4th and do everything I can to be the best I can be.

PC: Being that you got a late start into the sport, do you feel you are on the fast track and every fight is a big fight for you?

DP: I'm not sure if it has anything to do with when I started the sport, but I do go into every fight as prepared as I can possibly be to be the greatest that I can be.

PC: Have you done anything different to prepare for fighting in The Pit?

DP: Not really. I am a fighter that likes to fight on the front foot. I can't wait to get into the Pit.

PC: What type of fight are you expecting from McCarter?

DP: A smart fight. An exciting fight. Two champions in the ring with only one walking away the winner. It's going to be a great fight.

PC: I wish you the best of luck in your fight. Is there anything you would like to add?

DP: Firstly, thank you. I want to thank BKB. In 2015, they are finally putting female boxers on the big screen. It has been such a success for the UFC, it's great to see BKB jumping on board and support us as fighters and not a gender.
