"I am trying to get as much experience as I can, so that I too can become an elite fighter and world champion...I have a fight approaching, April 26th, 2015. I am ready to tackle my next opponent and look forward to my next KO," stated up-and-coming prospect Shane Mosley Jr., who talked about his upcoming return and much more. Check it out!
PC: After your lone defeat at the end of 2014, you've jumped off to a great start in 2015 with two knockout wins. Even though it was a split decision loss, did it kind of change things for you mentally?
SMJ: Yes, it did change my mindset; made me think more strategically and make my wins more decisive. By that, I mean knocking people out.
PC: That was a helluva knockout against Buchanan. What did you see when you landed that left hook my man?
SMJ: What I noticed was that he was hurt and that I had a perfect shot. Always go for the KO!
PC: Do you feel you have settled in as a pro or is there still a little bit of anxiety before fights?
SMJ: I feel as though I have settled in as a pro. I will always have things to learn, but I have become much more confident in my decisions in the ring. At times, I get anxiety because no matter how much you prepare yourself against the opponent, anything can happen. That just comes with every match.
PC: Do you look at your name as pressure or motivation?
SMJ: No, I do not look at it as pressure. My talent defines me.
PC: How much does it help having your dad in your corner being that he is a Hall of Fame fighter and he knows what it takes to be in there?
SMJ: It is a great privilege since he has a lot of knowledge. For my father to be a world champion and an elite fighter, I am very fortunate to receive all that I do from him.
PC: It seems like they are keeping you very active. Is that the goal, to get that ring experience and kind of learn on the job?
SMJ: Absolutely! I am trying to get as much experience as I can, so that I too can become an elite fighter and world champion.
PC: Do you watch your fights back, and if so, what are you taking away from each fight?
SMJ: Of course I re-watch my fights. they teach me so much about myself. Doing this after every fight helps me see where I am at as a fighter and look for things I may improve on.
PC: When are you looking to get back in there?
SMJ: I have a fight approaching, April 26th, 2015. I am ready to tackle my next opponent and look forward to my next KO.
PC: What would be a good pace for you this year? How many fights?
SMJ: Ideally, 6 more fights, so in total, 8 fights per year.
PC: I wish you the best of luck. Keep me updated on everything you have going on and we will speak again soon. Is there anything else you want to say before I let you go?
SMJ: Thank you for the interview and keep your eyes peeled on what I got coming for the boxing world! I have been training hard in Big Bear. They don't know whats coming! Follow me on twitter @ShaneMosley_Jr.
