"Look, Floyd had the blueprint to beat him. Floyd's a great fighter, but I've also seen the fight against Lara. These guys have good footwork, good movement, and decent handspeed, and I think that's what gives Canelo problems," stated former world champion Amir Khan, who talked about the strategy for his intriguing May 7 showdown with WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Although the naturally smaller Khan will be at a disadvantage when it comes to weight, he strongly believes that both Floyd Mayweather and Erislandy Lara have exposed flaws in Canelo's style that will allow him to use his speed and movement to pull off the upset.
"Obviously before I even agreed to fight him, I had to watch some videos. I said, look, let me see some videos of him and see what he does good and what he does bad and see if I can beat this guy. There's a few things that I've seen in that fight that can win me this fight, and also, things I can do like Floyd in the fight," Khan explained to FightHype.com, referring to Canelo's only loss to Floyd Mayweather back in September of 2013. "Yeah, I have my own style. Obviously me and Floyd have a different style, but I have my own style that I think will work for me in this fight. I really believe I can beat him. Having the height as well, you know, I really think I've got everything it takes to win this fight and win it in good fashion. Beating somebody like Canelo, I'll be right at the top again."
