FightHype.com would like to congratulate Strikeforce female welterweight, and official FightHype blogger, Miesha "Takedown" Tate on becoming the first Strikeforce women's welterweight tournament champion. After winning the tournament, Miesha now becomes the #1 contender and, more importantly, will get a chance at redemption, a shot at welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman.
Fighting in a tournamente format, Tate scored two solid decision victories, the first against Maiju Kujala and the second against Hitomi Akano, winning in impressive fashion. A second showdown with Kaufman now looms on the horizon, and it's that fight that Tate has been waiting for ever since dropping a unanimous decision to Kaufman.
