RANDALL BAILEY: "WHEN THAT FOOD IS ON THE LINE, IT IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL"

By Elvers Brooks | September 28, 2010
RANDALL BAILEY:

"He was alright. He was nothing special. I don't be trying to put it on nobody too much in the gym. They figure if they can take it in the gym, they can take it in the fight. [Frankie] Figueroa thought the same shit when we fought. We sparred a few times in the gym. I tell 'em, a friendly Bailey is not the same as the Bailey when you fighting for that food. When that food is on the line, it is a different animal you are in the ring with. These guys don't understand that. I know Said in and out. I watched a couple of his fights to see if he has changed a little, but shit ain't changed. He the kind of dude that sit back and wait and he gonna have to fight with me and get knocked out. I'm training for the Knockout," stated former world champion Randall Bailey as he talked about his future plans, including a potential IBF eliminator with Said Ouali and much more. Check it out!

EB: How you doing Champ?

RB: Chillin'. Everything's been going okay; just been training and staying in shape 'til I get this signed and out the way

EB: So you got a fight coming up? You know who it is against?

RB: Yeah, IBF eliminator against Said Ouali. We used to train together and I guess he just beat this guy, Saldivia [Hector David Saldivia], and now he is training with Roger [Mayweather].

EB: When you getting in the ring with him?

RB: They trying to get it December 2nd in Belgium.

EB: I know you don't mind traveling; you have fought all over. You going to take that killer right hand with you.

RB: It don't matter to me, an ass whoopin' is an ass whoopin' no matter where it's at. I know what they going to be looking for, but I hit em with that killer left hook.

EB: You have given out many amazing KO's, so I look forward to your fights. You feel stronger at 147 now?

RB: (Laughs) Yeah, I am training for them now.  I feel very strong at 147. The last few fights I fought at 140 was killing me, but I put myself in a position for a title at 140, so it wouldn't have been right to work so hard to get the shot then not take it. I gave it what I had and that was it.

EB: Yeah, you had a great fight with Juan Urango.

RB: Oh yeah, that was a great fight. I love to fight.

EB: You still with Lou Dibella? He is a good guy. I met him in Vegas last year. He was real; I didn't worry about him sugarcoating anything (laughs).

RB: (Laughs) Yeah, he is real cool. He gonna keep it 100.

EB: So Dec 2nd in Belgium. You know if there will be any television involved over here or just there?

RB: I don't know just yet. I wish it could be on television over here. We both have a following because guys from the neighborhood that know he used to train with us makes the fight that much more interesting. Everybody can't wait.

EB: Did you and Ouali battle it out a lot in sparring?

RB: He was alright. I'm training for the Knockout.

EB: So your last fight was in Belgium. You got the passport and you take it over there. How were the fans over there?

RB: They like what I did over there, so the promoters are putting up the money to bring me back. The fans are great. At first, they were a little hostile towards me, shooting me the middle finger. I thought they were going to throw bottles next, but they saw the type of guy I was. Once I knock you out, it don't make no reason for me to go around parading and celebrating; the job is already done. I made sure the guy was alright and left the ring and they kinda liked me.

EB: Appreciate you taking the time to talk to me. I'm going to hit you up when it's closer to the fight and make sure you ready; let you give us something before you go over there. Is there anything you want to say to your fans now?

RB: Not yet. I don't want to say nothing 'til it's done. Let me get in shape and get ready for this fight. I will keep 'em posted.

EB: Appreciate you once again. Talk soon.

RB: Thanks.
