DK: Ajose, how's it going? I hear you just got back from Nigeria.
AO: Yes, I went to see family and friends. I'm back in New York now.
DK: I'm sure you saw the fight between Danny Garcia and Amir Khan this past weekend. What are your thoughts on the fight?
AO: Actually, I did saw the fight. It's a good fight, but it's surprising Danny Garcia won. To me, he's not a shark. Amir Khan is a good boxer, but the mistake he made was to mix it up with Danny Garcia. All Khan had to do was box, but he got caught. Garcia did what he had to do, landed a good punch, and finished maturely.
DK: It was supposed to be you in there against Garcia fighting for the title, but the WBC once again passed over you to make another fight. How frustrating has it been for you to consistently be passed over even though you've been the #1 contender at 140 pounds for so long?
AO: Well, imagine yourself being tired of the situation. I know you're tired of it, so imagine how I feel. I just want my fair shot. Even before Garcia, I was supposed to get the shot against Morales. Danny Garcia has never been #1, but he got his shot. Even when Morales got his shot, he wasn't #1 contender. Is it because I'm not American or because I'm not Mexican? We are talking about the World Boxing Council. World, underlined! Doesn't matter if you're from England, Nigeria, or Ghana, you should get your shot if you earned it. I'm not going away until I get my shot.
DK: I know you received some step aside money to allow Khan to face Garcia...
AO: (Cutting in) No, I did not receive any step aside money; not a penny! I want to make that perfectly clear. I haven't received anything. Quote me on that. I received nothing from anybody.
DK: That's terrible because Jose Sulaiman was quoted as saying you took a step aside fee.
AO: Tell him to prove it. I am the one involved. I have not, NOT underlined, received anything from anybody. As of today, I have received nothing.
DK: Are you staying in shape, and how soon could you be ready to fight should a fight come together?
AO: Well, right now, I'm going on a holiday. There is a life outside of boxing and I am going to take two weeks off. If they want me to fight in two weeks though, I'm ready. I can beat anybody, even without training. I'm good enough to beat anybody. One week training is enough for me. I'm the best out there. I don't need to train to beat these guys.
DK: What are your thoughts on Danny Garcia as a fighter?
AO: Listen, I respect him. He's strong. He's got balls. He wants to fight. In fairness to him, he wants to fight me, but the people who handle him don't want to fight me. I respect that he wants to fight anybody, but the people who handle him don't want to fight me. We are on different levels, and he's not on my level. I'm not a knockout puncher, but when I hit you, I'm going to hurt you. I'm faster, more experienced, I box longer, have better ring craft, and more intelligence in the ring. I know he'll think otherwise. Prove it to me then and shut me up. He said he'll fight anybody. How credible can you be as the champion if you don't fight the #1 contender? Forget about Amir Khan. Khan has lost before. He was not a champion. He was coming off a loss. I'm undefeated at 30-0. I am the best, and I just want to prove it. That's the reason I want to prove it.
DK: How would a fight between the two of you play out in your mind?

DK: Ajose, have you heard anything from the WBC at this point? Are they finally going to give you the title shot that you so rightfully deserve after being the #1 contender for nearly two years now?
AO: Well, the last thing I heard is Danny Garcia has 10 days to vacate his title, agree to fight me, or be stripped. So that's what I'm waiting for. Actually, I don't want him to vacate because I want the fight against Garcia since he just beat Khan. But fight or vacate, Danny Garcia! Take your pick!
DK: I appreciate the time, Ajose. Any final thoughts for the fans out there?
AO: I'm going to say thank you so much to my fans for the support. I know you're not giving up on me, and I'm not going to give up. I'm not going to disappoint you when I get my shot. Thank you so much for the support. It means everything to me.
