Sources close to the information have informed us that WBC & WBA jr. welterweight champion Danny Garcia has agreed to terms to face top jr. welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse. According to our sources, the bout will take place on the undercard of the highly-anticipated September 14 showdown between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "Danny Garcia was adamant about getting the fight done, so it got done," one source commented.

[UPDATE] Although Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is telling other reporters that there are "still some open issues to close", sources from BOTH camps tell us that BOTH fighters have indeed agreed to terms. In fact, according to one source, the money had already been agreed to and the ONLY issue that was holding up the fight was the matter of drug testing. Though we're unsure at this point what exactly was agreed upon, we're told that drug testing is no longer an issue and Schaefer will be "officially" announcing the fight some time next week.
