Moments ago, at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, hard-hitting former champion Jhonny Gonzalez recaptured his title in devastating fashion, knocking out the previously undefeated Abner Mares at 2:55 of round 1. The action ended before it could even get started, as Gonzalez patiently set up Mares for a perfect left hook that dropped the younger fighter.
