"I think that the way he's talking, he's underestimating me, but at the same time I think that he's worried. I think that he's very, very worried," stated undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who believes that the trash talk from undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather is a clear sign that he's worried heading into their highly-anticipated September 14 showdown. Canelo insist that he's unfazed by anything that Mayweather may say or do outside of the ring and is instead focused solely on the tactics that Mayweather may use inside the ring.
"He's always been like that. He's always been a talker and that's the kind of person he is, but I don't care. I don't care what he's saying. I don't care what he's thinking. What I care about is what I'm saying and what I'm thinking and I'm controlling it and that's what matters to me," Alvarez explained during a recent conference call to promote the bout. "I'm not saying that he's a dirty fighter. I would never say that because he's not. He's not a dirty fighter but he's a fighter that has a lot of experience and obviously yes sometimes he does use his elbows and forearms but it's a tactic so that he can get you off your game plan; then he can counter you when you're trying to pull out of that. Obviously, he's a fighter that has a lot of experience and he uses that to his advantage."
