MIKEY GARCIA RIPPED AND READY FOR SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT DEBUT:

"I think I'ma box him and play it safe the first couple of rounds and see how it unfold. I don't know if he'll start a little slower and then as the rounds go by, he puts on pressure because he's more aggressive. I think if he still does the same thing, that gives me more opportunities to counter him and maybe even hurt him. But I do think he's going to give me a good fight; I really honestly do believe he's going to give me a much better fight than people anticipate. If we knock him out, that's better for us," stated undefeated former featherweight champion Mikey Garcia, who spoke with FightHype.com hours before he gets set to weigh-in for his anticipated clash with WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez. Check out how he looks and what else he had to say!

BT: What's up, Mikey? I saw a pic of you this morning and you're looking like a beast.

MG: Yeah, we did a pretty good job, man. We worked real hard, you know. Hard work.

BT: I know this was your first time working with Alex. So how hard was it?

MG: There was definitely a lot of work throughout the entire camp, you know, different work. We were doing different routines with swimming and on the track. Overall, it's always been hard work. Last night, we didn't even do that much, honestly. We did, I think, maybe 45 minutes of work and that was it; just a little light workout and shaved the last couple pounds off. We woke up under, you know; we're 129.2 right now.

BT: Are you surprised with the type of results you got?

MG: I'm a little suprised at how during training, I never had to use any sauna suit or any plastics or anything like that and my weight was still coming down. I was suprised at how efficient the diet really is. Other times, I never worked on a strict diet; just eating healthy and making sure I stayed away from fatty foods and all the fast food. This time, with the structured diet that he had me on, the weight just came down so much easier without the need of any sauna suit. That was a little more suprising to me. Last night was the first day that I ever put any sauna suit on.

BT: I know you had the trouble before making weight, so it's gotta be refreshing coming into fight week knowing that you're already on target.

MG: I feel so much better, man. I'm so much happier; just healthy and excited. I just got so much energy. It's a whole different feeling. I feel so much better with the way things went this time.

BT: Well, the weigh-in is today and the talking is basically over now. So what kind of a fight are you expecting tomorrow night?

MG: I think I'ma box him and play it safe the first couple of rounds and see how it unfold. If we knock him out, that's better for us.
