"His strengths are principally his speed, intelligence, and endurance. Regarding his weaknesses, I will see that in the ring on the 25th...I think he will analyze me and test my strike force. If I'm not dangerous, he will put pressure and try to stop me...I will be facing him, not the crowd. I'm on a mission to bring the belt back to Quebec," stated undefeated jr. welterweight contender Dierry Jean, who talked about his upcoming January 25 showdown with IBF jr. welterweight champion Lamont Peterson. Check it out!
PC: How have you been, Dierry?
DJ: Pretty good, thank you.
PC: You always appear to stay in pretty good shape. What has preparation been like for your January 25th fight against Lamont Peterson?
DJ: So far, so good. I have good sparring partners. I'm working hard.
PC: It will be 8 months of inactivity when you step in the ring with Peterson. Does that concern you any or are you not a believer in ring rust?
DJ: Not really. I've been training since then. I'm not being inactive.
PC: When you watch Peterson fight, what do you think of his skillset and what do you consider his strengths and weaknesses?
DJ: His strengths are principally his speed, intelligence, and endurance. Regarding his weaknesses, I will see that in the ring on the 25th!
PC: Lamont told me that he felt your biggest strength is the fact that you're always busy; even when you're not punching you're busy. Being that he is a high volume guy as well, what type of fight are you expecting from him?
DJ: I think he will analyze me and test my strike force. If I'm not dangerous, he will put pressure and try to stop me.
PC: You have stopped your last 3 opponents, and of course he is coming off of the knockout loss to Lucas Matthysse. Do you feel like you could knock him out and give him consecutive knockout losses?
DJ: I will follow and execute the game plan. We are getting ready for twelve rounds.
PC: Do you have any concerns about going to his backyard and fighting him in Washington?
DJ: It doesn't bother me at all. I will be facing him, not the crowd. I'm on a mission to bring the belt back to Quebec.
PC: What type of statement are you looking to make in this fight against Peterson?
DJ: That I'm the best pound-for-pound in the world and I'm ready to prove it.
PC: What would capturing this junior welterweight title mean to you for your career?
DJ: It would mean a lot. It would be a dream come true.
PC: I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to what I think is going to be a great fight. Is there anything you want to add in closing?
DJ: I would like to thank my fans, my EOTTM [Eye of the Tiger Management] team, and my coach, Mike Moffa at Underdog Boxing Gym. Be ready for an amazing fight!
