According to AP reports, undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather has decided that he will hang up his gloves in September of 2015. "September 2015 will be my last [fight]," Mayweather commented during a gala dinner being held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa.
September 2015 is the anticipated date of his final obligation to a six-fight deal he signed with Showtime and CBS. Two fights into that deal, Mayweather has already defeated Robert Guerrero and Canelo Alvarez. Though he still has 4 fights left, he intends on fighting in May and September of this year and next year. With a current record of 45-0 and 26 knockouts, Mayweather would end his career at 49-0 if he does indeed retire. That being said, will Mayweather be able to resist the temptation of a big money offer to reach the elusive 50-0 mark assuming he stays undefeated? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
