Earlier today, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin kept his undefeated record intact, scoring a 7th round stoppage of challenger Osumanu Adama at the Salles des Etoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It didn't take long for Golovkin to make his punching power known, dropping Adama with a right hand at the end of the first round. After that, it was just another day at the office for the champion as he took his time breaking down the challenger.
To Adama's credit, although he was heavyily outgunned, he landed some good shots that got Golovkin's attention midway through the fight. Golvokin, however, turned up the pressure, landing several shots that would punish and drop Adama again in the 6th round. Although Adama survived the round, it was only a matter of time as it was clear the end was near. One more knockdown in the 7th round and a series of unanswered punches was enough to make the referee call a halt to fight at 1:20, declaring Golvokin the winner.
