With less than 5 weeks left to go before undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather makes his return to the ring to face former welterweight champion Marcos Maidana in a highly-anticipated rematch on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the televised pay-per-view undercard is set for what is considered to be one of the biggest boxing events of the year.
Mayweather himself officially announced the lineup on his official Twitter account. In the co-main event, Leo Santa Cruz will defend his WBC super bantamweight title against Manuel Roman. Prior to that, IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez will take on challenger Mickey Bey and former jr. middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo will make his debut as a middleweight when he faces jr. middleweight contender James De La Rosa at a contracted weight of 162 pounds. What's intriguing is that Mayweather also announced a 5th bout between jr. welterweights John Molina and Humberto Soto. Considering that it's not common for boxing pay-per-views to televise 5 fights, don't be surprised if Molina vs. Soto is televised for free on Showtime Extreme in the hour leading up to the pay-per-view telecast.
Here's a look at what the Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 card looks like thus far:
- Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana
- Leo Santa Cruz vs. Manuel Roman
- Miguel Vasquez vs. Mickey Bey
- Alfredo Angulo vs. James De La Rosa
- John Molina Jr vs. Humberto Soto
Leo Santa Cruz vs Manuel Roman
Miguel Vasquez vs Mickey Bey
