The Kings Cup is an annual Muay Thai event staged to honor the birthday of Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand. It is held in Bangkok's Sanam Luang Park, facing the King's Palace. The event is attended by as many as 300,000 Thai fight fans and admirers of the King. December 5th is one of the most importand days in Muay Thai. It marks the birthday of His Royal Majesty the King of Thailand. The World Muay Thai Council has allowed the American Muay Thai League to host the First ever WMC-USA Official Kings Birthday Celebration Event.
The World Muay Thai Council(WMC) is the only official governing body of Muay Thai in the world and takes precedence over all other sanctioning bodies. The Event will have the best fighters in North America competing for the first ever WMC USA Titles as well as other known pro and A-Class Amateur fighters. The event will be like none other with a full staff of highly qualified and the best Thai judges, and referees to assure best outcome and event possible.
This event will help promote not only Muay Thai but the Thai people, culture , and country as well. The American Muay Thai League Promotion sticks to a strict guideline to ensure the most authentic Thai event possible. The event will consist of main fights . Each contestant will perform a Wai Kru Rham Muay to pay respect to his country, teacher, muay thai, and to the King on the day of Dec.5,2014 in his honor. In addition fighters will perform their ceremonial dance to the Pi Muay while wearing the Phuang Malai as well.
Muay Thai in America is becoming a very popular sport and by promoting this event we wish to keep promoting the sport of Thai boxing as well as the culture,way of life and traditions of the Thai people who have brought this great sport to America and the rest of the world.
Famous Hollywood Action Star and WMC Vice President Paulo Tocha will be present at the event to oversee and present the Championship Belts to the nights winners.
Paulo Tocha played in many Hollywood movies but is most known in the Muay Thai world as Paco form Blood Sport where he acted alongside famous action hero Jean Claude Van Damme.
