"Let's break it down! It's the biggest payday of his career by a long run. It's the biggest payday out there for him by a long run. He thinks he can win the fight, apparently. It's the fight that the British public wants. It's for a world title," stated promoter Eddie Hearn, who listed all the reasons why he believes former world champion Amir Khan should accept the challenge of undefeated IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook for a June 13 showdown. As far as Hearn is concerned, Khan's unwillingness to face Brook is a sign that perhaps he and his team believe they'll lose the fight.
"He calls out every other fighter on the planet apart from Kell Brook. Even Cotto, the middleweight champion of the world. Cotto, Broner, Mayweather, Pacquiao...how about the world champion in your division who's British and earns you more money than any of the others. It's that he just can't fancy the fight," Hearn explained to several members of the media shortly after Brook's dominant stoppage of mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan. "You can never says he's a coward. He's put on some brilliant fights and he ain't afraid of him, but I don't think they think they win the fight deep down. And they know if they lose to Kell Brook, he's done."
