K2 Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions have reached a deal that will pit hard-hitting middleweight champions Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux in an explosive matchup on October 17. The bout will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York and will be televised on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Golovkin, the reiging WBA super champion and WBC interim champion, is coming off of a solid 6th round TKO victory over crafty southpaw Willie Monroe Jr. His 20th knockout win in a row, Golovkin has stopped 30 of his 33 opponents. Lemieux is fresh off of a unanimous decision victory over Hassan N'Dam. Although that bout went the distance, Lemieux dropped N'Dam four times en route to picking up the IBF title. In 36 bouts, Lemieux has scored 31 knockouts, so fans are guaranteed to see fireworks when he steps into the ring with Golovkin in October.
