After Holly Holm brutally knocked out Ronda Rousey back in November 2015, many, including her own mother, were critical of her decision to remain with long-time boxing/striking coach, Edmond Tarverdyan. That criticism has now increased tenfold after UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes served up another brutal knockout to the former champion last night at UFC 207. Former UFC veteran turned striking coach Shonie Carter recently took to Facebook to rip Tarverdyan, expressing the strong belief by many that Rousey's downfall is due to her boxing trainer's inability to improve her stand up skills after a year-long layoff.
"Hey Edmond\Edmund close the doors to your raggedy dojo, burn your 'lack there of focus' mitts! You sir suck as a striking coach with your fake ass skills. The athlete is a direct reflection of the skillset tutelage of the sensei, sifu, instructor, shidoshi, teacher, shihan and none of those previous words describe you! Any comments, please feel free! I ain't scared to back mine up," Carter commented. "You are in my words from my mind are a MMA Charlatan that got lucky to have had in your nest 2 world class athletes and built your name on the efforts from previous skills and you ruined them both Travis Brown and Ronda Rousey! What is your pedigree? Mine is proven! Just look at the banner picture then think to yourself damn I suck at coaching!"
