Contrary to a report on TMZ, future Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather has "absolutely nothing to do with" a $650-$3500 fantasy boxing camp being run out of his gym. According to the event website, "The Mayweather Experience" gives fans an opportunity to train with "legendary coaches at the world famous Mayweather Boxing Club." Despite the fact that the company is clearly using a logo with his surname and a silhouette bearing a strong resemblance to the undefeated fighter, sources close to Floyd Mayweather made it clear that he had no knowledge of it and is vehemently denouncing the individuals involved with it.
"He has nothing to do with it at all. He doesn't run the boxing gym on a day to day basis and he would never do that to a fan. That's Jeff Mayweather," stated a representative of Floyd's team, who reached out to FightHype.com to set the record straight. Indeed, Mayweather's uncle Jeff is an integral part of "The Mayweather Experience," serving as one of the lead trainers as well as its biggest supporter. We're told that it was Jeff who gave alleged business partner Amer Abdallah permission to move forward with using the Mayweather name in the venture.
A kickboxing champion who also runs a small promotional company called Lace Up Promotions, Abdallah reportedly connected with Jeff back in 2013 when he was searching for a new trainer to advance his fighting career. Evidently, their training relationship quickly blossomed into a business relationship that saw Abdallah make use of the Mayweather name to create a YouTube channel titled "Mayweather Boxing Channel", which is billed as "the OFFICIAL Mayweather YouTube channel." The channel features several videos of both Amer and Jeff interviewing fighters at the Mayweather Boxing Club.
Several people connected to Floyd Mayweather have told FightHype.com that they've questioned the motives of both Jeff and Amer for quite some time now; so much so that Floyd has distanced himself from his uncle and reportedly no longer has a relationship with him. In fact, we're told a recent incident at the BET Awards that saw Jeff make use of a fake pass to gain attendance to the event has only soured their relationship even further. We can only assume that this latest report about "The Mayweather Experience" won't help matters. Now that Floyd has made it crystal clear that he has nothing to do with it, it probably won't be long before Jeff and Amer have to find a new gym for their "ultimate Las Vegas experience."
