"If I ain't seen no footage, I don't believe it...me and Jessie Vargas are in communication," stated undefeated future Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather, who reacted to a recent rumor suggesting that UFC multi-division champion Conor McGregor was knocked out in sparring.
The rumor spread like wildfire over the weekend after former world champion Jessie Vargas told Villainfy Media, "this guy got knocked out in sparring already." Although no other details were given, it didn't take long for the news to spread through social media before major media outlets started picking it up.
Vargas, who is currently going through a contract dispute with promoter Top Rank, was once signed to Mayweather Promotions and has recently been spotted training at the Mayweather Boxing Club. Naturally, it was easy for Mayweather himself to get in contact with Vargas and after communicating with his former fighter, he quickly dismissed the reports.
