Moments ago at the Convention & Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Australia, WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn made a successful defense of his title, stopping game challenger Gary Corcoran in the 11th round. Although Horn got off to a quick start, boxing from the outside, the sturdy Corcoran began to gain ground in the middle rounds, countering Horn's jab over the top with a counter right. Horn, however continued to work behind a consistent 1-2 combination that eventually began to bust up the left eye of Corcoran.
It was a rough fight that saw both fighters get nicked up from punches and headbutts, but ultimately, it was Corcoran who received the majority of the damage. After the 10th round, the right hand from Horn had the doctor taking a look at the damage to Corcoran's left eye. A few more follow-up punches in the start of the 11th round prompted the referee to call a halt to the action at 1:35.
