"Keith Thurman is seeing and hearing everything that is being said about him and, believe me, he is very, very motivated as he prepares for his upcoming clash with Manny Pacquiao on July 20th," stated Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, who gave us an update on the fast-approaching showdown between future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao and undefeated welterweight champion Keith Thurman. With less than two weeks left to go before they step into the ring, Ellerbe is on his way to St. Petersburg, Florida to get a firsthand look at Thurman during his upcoming media workout.
"One of the main reasons I think Keith is motivated is because of the naysayers and the critics not giving him his just due simply because they don't like him. You can not like a person for whatever reason, but you gotta give that man his props on his accomplishments," Ellerbe explained durig a recent conversation with FightHype.com "In my opinion, Keith is one of the most intelligent boxers out there and he's a student of the game. Furthermore, other than Manny, he has the best resume out of any of the welterweights in the division, period."
Ellerbe added, "Keith is well aware of what Manny Pacquiao brings to the table and he knows that this is hig big opportunity to shut the critics up and shine with the whole world watching. He's made a living off of proving people wrong and he'll look to do that once again this time by adding a future Hall of Famer in Manny Pacquiao to his already great resume. Nothing about this fight will be easy for either one of these guys and that's the beauty of what, in my opinion, I see as a 50/50 fight."
