
International Boxing Federation President, Marian W. Muhammad, will be inducted into the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame, along with nine others, including Alex "The Bronx Bomber" Ramos at The Adam Clayton Powell State Building in New York City on Saturday, August 16, 2008.
The AAESHOF is dedicated to honoring black and other ethnic sports legends. The organization is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of opportunities for young, less fortunate people to gain exposure to positive aspects of life.
The event on August 16 is a major fundraising event for the Hall of Fame scholarship fund for students who choose to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The scholarship fund, called "Academic Achievers Award Program," helps students from economically challenged backgrounds pay for their education.
The luncheon, to honor Marian Muhammad and the other inductees, will begin with a "VIP Reception with the Stars" at 12 p.m., followed by lunch at 1 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 2 p.m. The Adam Clayton Powell State Building is located at 163 West 125th Street. The event will be video taped and video streamed onto the Internet on TheWorldSportsNet.com. Negotiations have begun to televise the event on a delayed basis.
