It was a night of high-energy and all-out action that included knockouts, submissions and a title being captured at the Metropolis Nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio. ICE 41, presented by Kerry Schall, featured a total of ten fights that saw only one of them going the distance.
In the main event, the ICE flyweight title was on the line as Chris Graham faced former ICE bantamweight champion Quinn Broomfield. The bout started off competitive, but it didn't take long for Broomfield to use his superior standup skills and reach advantage to control the action in round one. The second round saw the fight go to the ground, where Broomfield was able to quickly take Graham's back. Although Graham did his best to fight off the submission, Broomfield eventually suck in a rear naked choke and forced the tap out at 2:37 of the round. With the win, Broomfield improves his record to 5-2 (1 No Contest) and picks up the ICE flyweight title. Graham's record now falls to 6-5.
In other action, Doug Davidson and Jeff DeSantis fought a spirited and entertaining three-round battle that was arguably the best fight of the night. Although Davidson was the better all-around fighter, DeSantis was game and did his part to give Davidson a good test in his first fight. Davidson won the majority of the exchanges in the standup, landing clean right hands with ease, but DeSantis would fire back and occassionally land some nice counter shots of his own. Davidson won the first two rounds, but DeSantis was still in it. It wasn't until the final round when Davidson completely took over, repeatedly landing a solid right kick to the leg that hurt DeSantis. In the final seconds of the bout, both fighters stood toe-to-toe trading punches. In the end, it was Davidson that walked away with the unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27), but both fighters won the respect of the fans and each other.
All-in-all, it was a great night of fights for the fans who showed up to the Metropolis Nightclub. Kerry Schall continues to bring entertaining matchups that give MMA fans a chance to see a little bit of everything. With five submissions and four stoppages, the crowd had a lot to cheer for. The next event, ICE 42, will take place on September 26th and you won't want to miss it. Be sure to check back for more details or visit the Metropolis website at www.cincymetropolis.com
