"The biggest misconception of me as a model is that I'm just a pretty face. I'm not. I'm very smart. Did I mention I had a full academic scholarship to the University of Michigan? They don't just give those things out, ya know? People who incorrectly assume are quickly corrected," stated Maxim Hometown Hottie Brandi Alexis as she talked about her experience in the competition and much more. Check it out! PC: How are you doing Brandi?
BA: I'm doing fantastically well; cannot complain in the least.
PC: Could you give us a little background on you, like where you are from, how did you begin modeling and things like that?
BA: I'm from Michigan; grew up there, family still lives there. I started modeling part-time while I was in college at the University of Michigan. I did it part-time for a good while in Michigan, then decided to move down to Florida and try it out as a full-time career. So far, so good!
PC: Congratulations on the success you had in the Maxim Hometown Hotties contest. What was that experience like for you?
BA: The experience has been wonderful. The staff at Maxim are amazing. The photographers, make-up artists and stylists that they brought in for our shoots were the best, period. And the other finalists were fantastic girls. It's definitely a tough competition, but it's been a fun ride and I've had lots of amazing exposure from it, which should lead to many more things.
PC: Is it tough for models to get along with other models?
BA: Not for me. I don't know about other girls. There are some girls that I don't really gel with, but I'm very professional in my work and don't let my personal opinions affect that.
PC: Being a full-time model, is that something that keeps you pretty busy or do you have some down time to work on other things?
BA: I am very busy as a full-time model. There are times where it's not as busy, but it usually keeps me going. I do have time for other things. I make that time available if something is important to me.
PC: What do you feel is the biggest misconception of a model is?
BA: The biggest misconception of me as a model is that I'm just a pretty face. I'm not. I'm very smart. Did I mention I had a full academic scholarship to the University of Michigan? They don't just give those things out, ya know? People who incorrectly assume are quickly corrected (laughing).
PC: What are some of the things you enjoy doing outside of your work?
BA: I like spending time outside with my dogs and my fiancé, going for walks, jogs, anything to be out and in the sunshine. I also enjoy spending time with close friends and going to different restaurants and trying new things.
PC: You have an amazing body, so I have to ask, what is your workout routine and would you consider yourself athletic?
BA: I'm very athletic. I was a competitive figure skater for 17 years. Today, I don't skate for exercise, but I do enjoy jogging and spending time in the gym. I think it's important to commit to exercise at least a few times a week. I personally try to work out every day, but with my schedule, sometimes it's just not possible.
PC: Do you follow a strict diet or are you naturally lean?
BA: I don't believe in diets. I believe in all-around good health. I use real ingredients when I cook and workout regularly.
PC: I watched a video interview of you and you said you loved Lucille Ball because she was crazy like you are. What makes you crazy?
BA: Not crazy in a literal sense, but spontaneous; will do or say anything at any given time. If you are familiar with Lucille Ball and her antics that made her famous as Lucy, then you know what I mean. It's all in good fun.
PC: I also understand that you are getting married in 2010. Congratulations on that. With that being said, do you get hit on a lot and if so, how do you handle it?
BA: Thank you. I'm very excited about my upcoming wedding. I do get hit on a lot, but I ignore it. This is Miami. Most people hit on me in Spanish anyway and I can't even understand it. Now that I'm engaged, I don't get hit on as much. People see the rock and keep walking (laughing).
PC: Do you have a type?
BA: Not necessarily. I like men that take care of themselves and that can make me laugh. I'm not really into guys that take themselves too seriously and try really hard to be impressive. If you aren't yourself when a girl meets you, eventually, the real you will come out and if its not what she wants, it's not what she wants.
PC: What is your idea of the perfect vacation?
BA: Hopefully my honeymoon. Just some place tropical and not overpopulated; lots of sunshine, a great room with a view, massages and romantic dinners. Top it off with time spent out on the water and you'll have my perfect vaca.
PC: I really appreciate your time. You are a very beautiful girl. Is there anything you want to say in closing?
