Moments ago, FightHype.com was on hand for a conference call featuring undefeated multi-division champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather (40-0, 25 KO), who discussed his upcoming May 1 mega-fight with "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO). Before making it clear that he was still the top name in the sport, Mayweather was quick to address past comments made by those who have doubted his pay-per-view drawing ability, namely UFC President Dana White and his former promoter, Top Rank President Bob Arum.
"I was friends with Dana White before he even got involved with MMA," Mayweather stated. "Dana White used to hang around, he and my uncle Jeff. My uncle Jeff, he was the guy who got Dana White started." Acting as though he was unbothered by White's criticism, Mayweather recounted a conversation he had with the outspoken head of the UFC immediately after his return bout against Marquez. "After the fight, I called Dana White up, you know, after the Marquez fight," Mayweather said. "I talked to him like a man. I said, 'You know, I don't have nothing against you at all. You do your thing and I wish you nothing but the best, and I'm sure you feel the same way.'"
Before moving on to the next question, Mayweather made sure to address some of Arum's recent comments about him. "Bob Arum always says that I can't draw flies and he says that black fighters can't do numbers, and that's something that he's been saying forever, but the thing is, he's always trying to get his fighters 2 fight me," Mayweather continued before repeating that all roads ultimately lead to him if anyone is hoping for the big paydays that come along with mega-fights. "Every boxer's goal is to fight Floyd Mayweather, no matter what happens. I mean, with De La Hoya, he got his biggest payday fighting Floyd Mayweather. Shane Mosley's getting his biggest payday fighting Floyd Mayweather, and the list goes on and on."
