This will be a very interesting fight. I consider Mayweather to be a ring genius; one of the smartest boxers in the game today. Highly skilled, Mayweather has shown that he can break down any fighter mentally. That beign said, it has been some time since he has broken down a fighter physically. In fact, the last fighter that Mayweather punished was Arturo Gatti. Shane Mosley is not Arturo Gatti!
It's true that intelligence wins fights. You know what? Mosley is a smart fighter. He may not be on Mayweather's level, but he is smart. He is very underated in this area of his game. I believe that his ring smarts are only enhanced by the presence of his trainer, Brother Naazim Richardson. The key to defeating Mayweather is to fight smarter when other tactics do not seem to be working against the Defensive Wizard. This is where Richardson is going to be the key.
I believe that Mosley and Richardson respect Floyd's abilities, but they do not fear him. And why should they? No fighter is unbeatable. The Philly crew of Rock Allen, Mike and Karl Dargan have provided Mosley with much needed target practice to land his artillery. No fighter in the game is as slick as Lil' Floyd, but Richardson's crew are a sick mix of urban flavor.
I am picking Shane Mosley because of his heart and his smarts, which will be enchanced by Brother Naazim. I think that Shane is going to do whatever it takes to win - boxing, pressuring, counterpunching and mugging - to break Mayweather's rhythm. I look for Mosley to stay composed and jab with the slick boxer, setting up straight, accurate, hard power shots from the outside and working his way inside to the body. I see him frustrating and hurting Mayweather more than once in the process.
So I'm picking Shane Mosley! Mayweather's O will go this Saturday night!
