"He's training like a monster right now," stated world-class trainer Robert Garcia, who's currently working with Antonio Margarito as he prepares for his November 13 showdown with Manny Pacquiao. According to reports, Margarito is focused and looking extremely good in training camp; so much so, in fact, that Garcia strongly believes his man will win via "11-round knockout." Speaking to John Martinez of Fightchronicles.com, Garcia discussed some of the steps they're taking to come up with the right strategy to defeat the best fighter in the world.
"We've been watching a lot of Manny's fights and know exactly how to attack him. Right now, Manny is considered 'The Man,' but he's also kinda overlooking us," Garcia explained. "We have been especially interested in his fights with [Miguel] Cotto and [Juan Manuel] Marquez." It's interesting to hear that they're focusing on Pacquiao's fights with Cotto and Marquez, especially considering that both of those particular fighters had two totally different game plans along with mixed results. Not to mention, given Margarito's own style, it's highly unlikely that he'll be able to mimic the more technical skills that both fighters possessed when they faced Pacquiao.
Whether or not Garcia sees any flaws in any of those fights remains to be seen, however, he's confident that, unlike others before him, he has the right man and the right game plan to derail the Pacquiao Express and single-handedly spoil a future showdown with Floyd Mayweather. "This isn't going to just be a win for Margarito, this is going to be a fucking beatdown we put on him [Pacquiao]. A big-time beating is what we got for Manny Pacquiao," he added.
