FRANCISCO BOJADO
KNOWN ALIASES: Panchito
LAST SEEN: Losing a split decision to a past-his-prime Steve Forbes in October of 2007.
OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION: Hates anything regarding splits and past-their-prime Lightweights.
At one time, Bojado was considered to be one of the brightest prospects in boxing. He was a former Olympian and was looking to make his name in the sport with numerous appearances on Showtime and HBO. Unfortunately, a gimme-fight against Leija turned out to be much harder than expected and Bojado lost a split decision victory that should have been unanimous. Disgusted for, well, nobody really knew why, Bojado retired for three years before signing with Golden Boy Promotions.
In 2007, he fought three times and served as a sparring parter for Oscar De La Hoya in preparation for Floyd Mayweather Jr. It seemed that Bojado was ready to make his leap back to primetime once more as he faced off against Steve Forbes in a Welterweight fight. Looking listless and disinterested, Bojado lost yet another split decision to a guy he really should have beaten. Bojado retired once again, but there were whispers earlier this year of a potential showdown with jr. welterweight Victor Ortiz. Unfortunately, those whispers only turned out to be rumors and Bojado has been missing without a peep heard since.
CAREER STATUS: As dead as it was disappointing.
