Ten Years. An entire decade. That's how long it's been since the sport of boxing has made an appearance inside the historic Zembo Arena. That's the last time the Zembo Arena in Harrisburg, PA hosted a boxing match.
That's all going to change this Saturday, however; as Payton Promotions brings boxing back to the Pennsylvania capitol city. The fight card, titled "Capitol Punishment" will include six professional bouts showcasing several talented fighters from the local area.
Headlining the event is WBA #11 Light Heavyweight Tommy Karpency (20-2 13 KOs). He will be squaring off against seasoned Philadelphia fighter Andre Hemphill (10-16 5 KOs) who's resume includes 13 undefeated fighters and is no stranger to providing a challenge to the world's top rated fighters.
The co-main event promises to be an action-packed bout as up and coming York, PA prospect Steve Weimer (5-0 2 KOs) takes on an ultra-experienced veteran of the ring in Julias "Marvelous" Edmonds (7-9 0 KOs) from Philadelphia. Weimer, one of the top light welterweight prospects in the world, is making his first leap into a 6-round bout in this step up in competition. Edmonds recently faced off against 2008 Beijing Olympian Sadam Ali in an ESPN card and will serve as the toughest test of Weimer's career thus far.
The Capitol Punishment card will also feature Harrisburg, PA native Josh Bowles, who will be making his professional debut. Bowles, a 3x PA Gold Glove Champion, will kick off what is sure to be a bright professional career against experienced Philadelphia fighter Jonathan Ocassio.
Other fights taking place on the card feature local fighters Jeremiah Karpency of Pittsburgh, William Miranda of Allentown, Grayson Blake of State College and Epi Rodriguez from Harrisburg.
Tickets for the historic boxing card, presented by Payton Promotions in association with Peltz Boxing Promotions and Kings Boxing Promotions, are priced at $550 for a VIP table, $60 for VIP Box seats, $45 for floor seats and $35 for general admission seating.
