After deleting his Twitter account in order to spend more time being productive, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion King Mo Lawal has decided to host a mailbag on FightHype.com to stay in touch with fans and answer any and all questions related to himself, mixed martial arts, boxing, or just about anything. Send an email to King Mo at kingmo@fighthype.com and maybe next week, you too can see your questions and Lawal's responses in Mo's Midweek Grind. Check out what fans were asking and what King Mo had to say in this week's mailbag.
Having watched the Mosley vs Pacquiao fight. Was it what you expected? What would you do differently? Considering the options: If Pacquiao wins - should his next fight be Juan Manuel Marquez? If so - which weight is a fair weight for both men? (based on the assumption Pretty Boy doesn't negotiate for the November slot)
King Mo: It was kinda what I expected...a 12-round decision. What I didn't expect was for Mosley to be so passive and old lookin'. Arum said that Pac's next fight would be at 147, so if Marquez is next, even at 144, the old man is gettin' beat.
Why do you think Mosley had so much trouble with Pacquiao when his reach advantage was so significant and he was known as a pure boxer? Miguel
King Mo: Mosley just looked like an old fighter. He is old. His body looked good, but he looked and fought like a fighter that saw openings, but couldn't pull the trigger.
Mo, wassup my dude. What was it like being around the Zuffa guys at the summit; something you can get used too? Red
King Mo: It wasn't that big of a deal, to be honest. I really thought of it as just business.
I heard u were out in vegas for Pacquiao/mosley. What wer ur thoughts on the fight and is shane done as a fighter in ur opinion?
King Mo: The fight was bad cuz Shane looked older and didn't pull the trigger. He is a great fighter and should step out the game like Randy did.
King, what's good homie? You've been known to cross train and travel to train. I wanted to know since you helped James Toney out, do you want to let him help you out in the standup department.
King Mo: Yeah, I'm open to that when his schedule is open. I know he has been training so I'ma holla at him in a few weeks.
Mooooooo, man this Ryan. Thanks for doing these fan questions. Gives us a chance to talk with someone in the know and get a response. I'm not a fan of Twitter either. I wanted to know, does Pacquiao's stock rise or fall in your opinion following the Mosley fight??? Thanks again; Ryan!!!!
King Mo: I think Pacquiao's stock stays the same in my eyes. Mosley is a good name to beat, but his last goood performance was when he hit Floyd with the right hand. LOL. Pacquiao came to fight; I give him that!
Where did the moniker King Mo come from? Does Nick Diaz stand a chance against jeff Lacy in ur opinion. Thanks champ. Reed D.
King Mo: My brother, Kami Barzini (ATT wrestling coach), gave me that name back in 2006. I think Diaz stands a chance if Lacy is injured. I like Diaz and he comes to fight. I ain't sure he can beat Lacy, but I hope he can. I like Lacy and Diaz. I just wanna see a good fight.
Now that Nick Diaz has made a (potential) move to boxing do you think we will see more MMA guys doing the same because of money, exposure etc??? Keep doing ya thing man and don't change for anybody. Peace.
King Mo: I hope the future contracts will allow that, but I ain't sure that boxing or kickboxing, while under a Zuffa contract, can be done. Diaz had that boxing clause put in his contract while he resigned to Strikeforce before the Zuffa buyout.
